Garden Parasols
No garden is complete without something to keep the suns rays away. Garden umbrellas for the home range in price from £20 to £3,000, & there an enormous difference between the various levels & types, although as ever you get what you pay for. Almost all of the companies who make contemporary garden furniture also make (or have made for them) garden parasols, but there are a few companies that only make modern parasols (without the furniture).
Companies that specialise in garden parasols include –
Sywawa Parasols
This fairly small Belgian company near Bruges has a big presence. Sywawa is the design-led arm of their other brand, Symo, & they work with some fantastic designers to create stunning contemporary parasols that are also robust enough for contract use (a large market for them). If you want a garden parasol to make a statement look no further.
Symo Parasols
On the ‘sensible’ side of Sywawa, Symo’s garden parasols are often used commercially but are also very suitable for the home. Their parasols are innovative, using only the best materials & technology & can be printed with your own design.
Manutti
Although Manutti makes modern garden furniture, they also make superb parasols, which are absolutely stunning quality.

Outdoor dining furniture – garden tables & chairs
Metal Garden Tables
Who doesn’t look forward to a meal al fresco in summer? Whether it’s a casual get together with a few friends, a family meal or just an intimate dinner for two, eating outdoors never loses its appeal. But if you are a fan of modern design you will have had little to choose from until recently, especially if you like good quality. Chunky wooden picnic tables with built-in benches or undersized French style painted metal are perfect if that’s your taste, but now garden furniture has moved on.
These days garden tables look a lot like sleek modern dining tables, & use glass, steel, stone, Trespa & synthetic rattan, to make them practical & long-lasting. Every space is catered for now too, from aluminium cafe tables that will fit perfectly on a city balcony to 3-metre long garden tables large enough to fit all of your family & friends.
Easy 3 Metre Garden Table
The Easy aluminium outdoor table from Italy is just the thing when you need a really big outdoor table, although there are also other smaller Easy tables, as well as matching aluminium garden chairs (shown with the Rion garden chair).
Una Garden Table
Simple & elegant, with a hard-wearing Trespa top, the Una outdoor table (shown with the matching Una garden chairs) is great value, as well as hard-wearing. Made by Calma, Spain, Una is available in crisp white, black or dark brown.
Graphics Garden Table
Glamourous, sophisticated & typically Italian, the Graphics garden table from Roberti is total luxury. The dark brown colour Roberti have used in the Graphics collection is a departure from the usual white & really makes this a standout piece.
Arche Extending Garden Table
Extendable garden tables are as rare as hen’s teeth, & the Arche extending garden table also has the advantage of being hard-wearing (made from aluminium). The modern styling is almost identical to that of modern (indoor) dining tables.
